| In one of the workouts of 1997, under the banner of the SPEX 2000 Taekwondo Training Scheme, 26 trainees took part in a friendly competition against our Johorian counterparts at Larkin Stadium, Johor. This was held on 27 December. |

 ... but there was no love lost between the neighbours |
After good performanes in the first two rounds, the trainees were found wanting in the next two. Although the in-camp training just before this friendly did improve their fitness, that perticular area still needs development as stamina was one of the main factors in the poor performance in the later stages of matches. It is hoped that in the future, more matches of this calibre will be arranged as only positives can be gained from it. |
